Every place of work is subject to the provisions of the Safety Health & Welfare at Work Act. The Act gives workers the right to consultation and representation. The workers may select from among themselves a person known as the Safety Representative. The Safety Representative has certain rights. This Programme is designed to meet the rights of the Safety Representative to adequate training.

The three day course will enable the Safety Representative to understand his/her role in the organisation and to carry out the task in a professional manner. On completion of the course the Safety Representative should;

  • Gain a clear understanding of his/her role.
  • Understand the legal requirements involved.
  • Be able to identify and assess hazards and risks at the workplace.
  • Be able to access safety information.
  • Have begun the process of learning to be a competent safety representative.
